Ukraine seeks Georgia’s 2008 war experience

General of the Army of Ukraine Viktor Muzhenko, Chief of General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, on 5 July held talks with Maj. Gen. Vakhtang Kapanadze, Chief of General Staff of the Georgian Armed Forces. “We have a lot of issues to discuss together and share experience. I mean experience of Georgian-Russian war, preparation of troops’ deployment, volunteer formations within the army, rehabilitation of WIA, etc.,” Viktor Muzhenko stressed as quoted by the Ukrainian Defense Ministry. The parties discussed regional security and development of bilateral military cooperation.

In the framework of the Memorandum signed between the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and Ministry of Defense of Georgia on realization of joint project on rehabilitation of the Ukrainian servicemen, the Georgian party conducts courses of psychological rehabilitation of the Ukrainian soldiers, officers and their families at the medical psychological rehabilitation center of the Ministry of Defense of Georgia. Since August 2014, 34 Ukrainian servicemen have undergone the mentioned course. Maj. Gen. Vakhtang Kapanadze will also visit the National Ivan Chernyakhovskyi Defense University, Zhytomyr Military Institute. He is expected to take part in the VIP day at Rapid Trident 2016.
